Main field

Microcontrollers, microprocessors and control loops

Reiter Automation programs microcontrollers, microprocessors and embedded systems to customer specification — with or without an operating system, for a wide range of devices, machines and products. Control engineering is part of that: designing, implementing and tuning control loops directly on the real machine.

These devices usually run far more than a control loop: an integrated web server for operation and configuration from a browser, data logging for measured and operating data, and communication interfaces to the network, the fieldbus and higher-level systems.

Most devices are programmed in C, with the software written to whatever criteria the application demands. The range covers everything from a simple microcontroller to multi-core MPU systems, and development can be targeted specifically at speed, safety or high data throughput.

What a microcontroller does Schematic of a device: at the centre the microcontroller or microprocessor running firmware in C. It carries four jobs. Open- and closed-loop control acts on the process through actuators and reads back through sensors. A web server allows operation from a browser. Data logging writes measured values to an archive. Communication connects the device to network and fieldbus. Automation engineering

Plants that keep running

Alongside the embedded work, Reiter Automation covers control and automation engineering in machine and plant construction, as well as in building automation. Programmable logic controllers (PLCs) from a range of manufacturers — B&R and Siemens among them — are programmed together with the matching HMIs.

On top of that come practical Industry 4.0 solutions: networking individual parts of a plant, connecting them to ERP systems and coupling them to supervisory control systems. Special solutions such as sequence controls for test benches are implemented as well.

Software development

Tools that make the working day easier

Tailored to individual customer requirements, Reiter Automation offers the design, programming and implementation of custom applications for Windows and Linux.

These include tools for data logging or for processing measurement and production data — software that takes work off your hands and gives you a clear view of your plants and machines. AI systems, machine learning modules in particular, can be implemented on top.
